The Production Planning and Control
(PPC) module is an integral component of
the total proALPHA system and is
designed to handle the specific
operational requirements of different
manufacturing environments. It meets the
demand of a wide range, from
make-to-order, to batch, to full series
production. So, whereas a typical
repetitive manufacturer may use
continuous planning tools to determine
his resource requirements, a
construction project, on the other hand,
needs interdepartmental management
tools. In Europe, it is not uncommon for
midsized industrial plants to work with
both of these methods of production.
User-defined, event-controlled process
chains support the handling of these
different process types.

A standard interface and data model
provides complete integration with
Materials Management, Purchasing, Sales
and the Cost and Income Accounting
modules. Not only is current information
always available from other areas of the
company to Production users, but the
data entered in the production
department is also available company
wide with no additional effort.
Besides the various forms of bills of
materials, the classification system,
routings and change management; proALPHA
provides unique online-integration to
all leading CAD systems and that can
result in significant potential
for product rationalisation.
In combination with proALPHA's
workflow capabilities users can expect
accurate and efficient administration of
technical change orders. This facility
gains even more significance as the
cycle of product innovation and the
introduction of new methods get ever
shorter.
The proALPHA user can design and
implement various costing schedules to
facilitate break-even point calculations
for complex orders or control the
inventory valuations used to record
manufacturing costs.
The modular, layered architecture of
proALPHA
delivers real-time
interactive links among all sections of
the product and the constant
availability of relevant information
stored in the system via an advanced
information and control system.
